Our past creates our present by shaping us into who we are today.
Many growing businesses face challenges and change over the course of their lifespan and Counting House is no exception to this rule.
In 2000 R. Van Ballantyne, EA, MBA, ATP left corporate America and became an entrepreneur opening a small business accounting and financial services office in Greenland, NH under the name Century Small Business Solutions® and then later as Fiducial.
In 2008, with drastic changes in the small business accounting market, Van decided to leave franchise ownership and become an independent small business accounting firm under the name Counting House Associates, LLC. From 2000 through 2011, the firm saw steady and increasing growth. As part of the firms expansion plans, Counting House moved its offices one mile down the road to larger, more client friendly space at 524 Portsmouth Avenue, Greenland, NH where they reside today.
Besides being an enrolled agent (EA), Van also worked as an accountant, financial controller, chief financial officer and vice president of finance for small and mid-sized businesses throughout the greater seacoast areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Whittemore School of Business & Economics and an MBA. He is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and holds the Accredited Tax preparer (ATP) from the National Association of Accountants. He is a member of the Professional Association of Small Business Accountants (PASBA).
Counting House was recognized as Business of the Year by the Seacoast Chamber of Commerce in the business services category. They have also received the United Ways Presidential Award for continued campaign support and were named Franchise of the Year by Fiducial.
